When it comes to installing a commercial or residential lift there are a lot of factors to consider, particularly when lifts are installed into an existing home or structure. One factor that is often overlooked when considering whether or not a lift is the right solution for your needs and budget is the pit allowance.
Axis Lifts provides a wide range of commercial and home lift solutions for both new builds and retrofits. Many of our lifts come with pit requirements of as little as 50mm, however, we also offer a no pit installation alternative to suit the needs of your home or building. With over 94 years of combined industry experience and a 24/7 service response, you can count on us to provide reliable lift installations and services at a competitive price. What Is A Residential Lift Pit?
The lift pit refers to the area where the bottom of the lift recedes below the floor of the lowest landing. Essentially, the area below the lift on the lowermost landing must be excavated to allow room for the parts of the lift that sit below the cabin floor.
Why Do Home Lifts Require A Pit?
The lift pit houses the bottom of the platform lift to allow the cabin floor to sit level with the landing floor. This is necessary to provide seamless and uninhibited access from the lowest landing into the lift and is also a requirement to meet building codes.
Installing A Home Lift With No Pit
Axis Lifts offers commercial and home lift solutions to suit any building or house including installing a lift with no pit. This is achieved through the addition of a ramp leading up to the platform lift in order to still allow room for the bottom of the lift to be housed on the lower landing.
Lift installation where there is already an existing slab means that a pit must be added which can be costly and time-consuming. Our no pit lift installation option ensures that our lifts can be retrofit into existing homes or buildings without extensive building works that could increase both cost and installation time.
Depending on the pit requirements of the lift, the ramp required is often very small ensuring that your lift will still fit seamlessly into your home. In fact, both the Aritco 4000 and Aritco 6000 home lifts we offer require a shallow pit of only 50mm. This means that installation without a pit would require a very small ramp that would barely be noticeable as anything other than the entry to your lift.
