When choosing a home lift, one of the most important questions homeowners ask is: How much weight can it carry? At Axis Lifts, our residential lifts are designed to offer both safety and practicality, comfortably supporting everyday use while meeting strict safety standards.

For most private homes, one of our typical home elevator shas a weight capacity between 250 and 400 kilograms. The exact capacity depends on the lift’s size and the space available within your property. With our clients the most common option for residential use is a 400kg capacity lift, ideal for carrying passengers, shopping, prams, or mobility aids with ease.

To ensure safety and reliability, every lift installed by Axis Lifts undergoes rigorous safety testing, including weight tests up to 440kg (slightly above the rated load). This adds peace of mind for families relying on their lift daily.

However, overloading should always be avoided, especially keeping in mind for social events or busy periods when more people may be tempted to ride together. Exceeding the limit can place unnecessary strain on the lift’s components, affecting long-term performance, safety and causing damage requiring repair.

If you’re unsure what size or capacity is right for your home, our team can recommend a custom lift solution to meet your household’s specific needs.
